For this project, we had to do research on the following ancient civilizations: The Ming & Qing Dynasties, the Mughal Empire, the Russian Empire, and the Ottoman Empire. With this research, we had to take different aspects of each empire to apply to the following categories: Political structure, the economic system, military strength, social hierarchy, main weakness. With this, we had to make a side show to present our Frankenstein Empires.
Reflection
The 21st century skill I feel best represents this project is the global awareness skill. This is because this project required a lot of research on countries and empires across the Earth, and allowed me to learn about how they operated in their respective areas. This project helped put into perspective, how many different aspects come together to make an empire, and how certain things impact each other.
Something that I'm proud about with this project is the just the fact that I was able to get it done with full points. The project was originally a group project that students had about a week worth of class time to work on. I had to do the entire project myself in two days because I missed the week where we were working on the project. Needless to say, it was a lot, but I got it done just fine.
If I could do this project again, I would want to do it the way it was originally intended, with aa group and more class time. It's not like I dreaded every second of doing the project alone, but it would have been a bit less stressful if I had group mates to pick up some of the slack. Overall however, I am proud of the final product I was able to produce.
