Project Summary

Reflection |
For this project, we were put in pairs and assigned with the task of creating a mix tape. We needed ten songs, two note cards to represent the mixtape, and a slide show to present the songs. The theme for the mixtape was our choice, with approval from a teacher of course. In the slide show, and during our presentation of the project, we had to describe our reasoning for including each song in the playlist based on the theme.

The 21st century skill I feel best emulates the mixtape project is the Communication skill. Along with having to do a presentation on the playlist we created with our partners, we also had to communicate the theme we chose via the songs. Each track on the mixtape had to have some sort of meaning behind it, whether that be lyrical or just general sound, and that had to be related to theme.
For the mixtape project, I would say that a lot of things went quite well. One particular thing that comes to mind was the effort put in by both partners. Anthony did his half of the work well, and he completed it early enough that I could get what I needed done on time. Over all, the project was quite easy due to the simple fact that both myself and my partner contributed. I would say that the presentation itself also went quite well. This is taking into account that we put in no effort to practice ahead of time. Anthony presented his half of the slides, and I did mine. It went as well as I would've expected really. If I could do this project over again, I would have probably chosen a different theme. It's not that I didn't enjoy the one I did, on the contrary. I actually had quite a bit of fun with it. My issue was simply that I feel like I could have done something a bit more metaphorical, or deep. I think there is a lot of meaning behind music, so just doing 'motivational' songs felt a bit basic for all the freedom the project allowed in terms of theme. Another thing that I would do differently if I could do this project again would be working more with my partner. Anthony and I were able to get everything done, yes. Even still, the way that we went about working on the project was simply choosing the theme, dividing the work, and then doing our individual work. I saw some of the collaboration my peers were doing, and that resulted in their mixtape having more consistent songs rather than the contrast that ours had. |
